Vision & Mission

The Vision of the Start-up Facilitation Desk is to develop the entrepreneurial ecosystem in BTR, both in terms of quantity and quality. The action plan of the desk outlines the key strategies to support the startup ecosystem in the region and drive innovation, job creation, and sustainable development.

 

Development on many fronts including in the sphere of industries and startups is a necessary dimension for positive change in the region. Startups can create a vibrant ecosystem in Bodoland, for instance, by offering market linkages for the agricultural and horticultural produces in BTR and by delivering last-mile service in various sectors such as health and telemedicine, education, etc.

Therefore the Mission of the Startup Facilitation Desk is to increase the number of registered start-ups in the region, to track their progress, and to provide support in terms of knowledge, incubation, networking, mentorship, funding linkages, etc.

Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP)

EDP will provide a cutting-edge, contemporary, and relevant curriculum on starting up and managing a startup through its various growth stages.

  • Regular boot camps on starting up and managing startups:

    • Identifying gaps in the market,

    • Offering value proposition: building products & services,

    • Achieving product-market fit,

    • Designing go-to-market strategy,

    • Figuring the right business model,

    • Pricing strategy,

    • Company formation, hiring, and team building,

    • Managing finances,

    • Social entrepreneurship,

    • Cases studies, best practices, dos & don’ts, etc.

 

  • Assistance on start-up recognition:

    • Start-up India

    • MASI

  • Incubation for deserving startups from BTR,

​

  • Invitation of deserving startups from BTR to any events organized, managed, or coordinated by Assam Startup.

​

  • Providing market or funding linkages to deserving startups.

Partnerships

The Startup Facilitation Desk will partner with all the relevant stakeholders such as Startup India, Assam Startup - the Nest, IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, NEDFi., etc.​

 

Educational and Technical Institutions form a critical part of the ecosystem and all three technical institutions in BTR, i.e. Bodoland University, Central Institute of Technology Kokrajhar, and Bineshwar Brahma Engineering College shall play an important role as incubation hubs in BTR. Vocational training Institutions / ITIs can additionally provide manufacturing or prototyping assistance.

The desk will also facilitate strong linkages with governmental line departments such as Industries & Commerce Deptt, Tourism, Agriculture, SEED, etc. Sponsorships from large corporations or PSUs in the region such as NTPC Ltd., IOCL Bongaigaon Refinery, and Power Grid shall be systemically explored.
